Description
The Cartshed at Pinkiehill Farm in Inveresk is a farmhouse built in the earlier to mid 19th century. It is a two-storey structure with three bays, featuring single-storey wings that back onto and enclose the farm steading. The building is constructed from rubble that is squared and coursed on the southeast elevation, with droved ashlar dressings.
On the southeast elevation, there is a central doorway with two-leaf doors and a fanlight, flanked by windows, with a window in each bay on the first floor. The single-storey wings on either side have piend roofs, each with a window.
The northwest elevation includes a stair window at the centre and a lean-to porch added to the left at ground level, which has a first-floor window and an oculus above. There is a window on each floor to the right, and a doorway in the right wing has been blocked and converted into a window, with a small square window next to it.
The farmhouse features a variety of glazing patterns in its sash and case windows, with plate glass glazing in the main windows of the two-storey elevation. The roof is covered with grey slates and has piend roofs. The ashlar end stacks have set-offs and are abutted below by the piend roofs of the wings.
