Description

The sundial at Tyninghame House is an ornate stone replica of the multiplex sundial from Newbattle Abbey. It is located on the parterre to the west of the house. The sundial features an octagonal base with a moulded octagonal pedestal that is topped by a sphinx. This pedestal supports a larger octagonal pedestal adorned with carved panels, which is capped by an intricately carved pinnacle resting on a masque and console base.
