Description

W J Walker Todd, 1919. Later Arts and Crafts style

District Council housing grouped in a cul-de-sac, with 6

pairs to 4 designs. All with 12-pane glazing to sash and

case windows and slated roofs with swept eaves.

1 AND 2, 3 AND 4, 11 AND 12: single storey and attic

mirrored pairs. Harled.

FRONT ELEVATIONS: U-plan. 2 recessed bays at centre with

slate hung, swept bipartite dormers, advanced gabled outer

bays with eaves lower to outer sides, and

doorways. Variety of window sizes in gables in mirrored

pattern.

REAR ELEVATIONS: U-plan. 2 recessed bipartite windows to

centre bays with single 1st floor windows. Even gables

to outer bays.

Asymmetrical side elevations with projecting bay under

swept main roof, door set back.

Harled stacks at centre ridges.

9 AND 10: single storey and attic mirrored pair. Harled.

W ELEVATION: M-gabled, advanced centre with lower outer

bays, regularly placed doors and windows in asymmetrical

design.

Rear elevation similar.

Harled stack at centre valley.

5 AND 6: symmetrical mirrored pair snecked rubble.

E ELEVATION: U-plan. 2 recessed bays at centre with

advanced porches flanking in re-entrant angles by

advanced porches flanking in re-entrant angles by

advanced gabled outer bays. Small lights flank doorways

at centre, repeated on inner sides of gables. Lower

inner eaves swept to gables. Simplified rears.

7 AND 8: symmetrical mirrored pair. Snecked rubble.

W ELEVATION: U-plan 2 bipartites at centre with flanking

doorways in re-entrant angles. Advanced outer bays

with bipartites and piended roofs.

E ELEVATION: advanced bays at centre with roof continuing

in main sweep. Doorways with flanking lights at centre.

Recessed blank outer bays.

Ridge and end wallhead stacks.
