Craigholm (Former Glasgow Corporation Water Works), Mugdock Reservoir

Craigholm, formerly the Glasgow Corporation Water Works, is a 2-storey, 3-bay L-plan house built around 1880 and renovated around 1947. The house features an advanced gable on the central bay, which has a small round-arched window at the apex, plain bargeboards, and a later staircase in the re-entrant angle at the rear. The exterior is constructed of roughly squared coursed sandstone with ashlar dressings, while the rear is finished in painted rough-cast. Notable architectural elements include a base course, eaves course, raised quoin-strips that are corbelled out at the eaves, and regular fenestration on the front with raised margins and projecting cills. The ground floor has stone-mullioned bipartite windows, and there is a lower 2-bay wing extending to the rear, along with a single-storey outbuilding that abuts at right angles.

Inside, the building was modernised in 1947, but some original window shutters and cornicing remain. The windows predominantly feature replacement 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case frames. The roof is covered with grey slate and has corniced stacks with tall clay cans.
