Description

The Sandstone Bridge, located within the Auchinleck House estate, dates to circa 1760. It is a rustic, single-span bridge designed to carry the estate’s riverside drive across Dippol Burn Gorge. The bridge is constructed of rock-faced, coursed cream ashlar with a segmental arch formed from stugged voussoirs. The original parapets are no longer present. References to the bridge appear in the New Statistical Account of Scotland, volume V, pages 324-5.
