Description
High Peacockbank is a former farmhouse dated 1787, featuring two storeys and three bays, with a slightly advanced central bay topped by a pediment. The front (east) is finished in painted ashlar with contrasting painted raised margins, while the rear is constructed of painted rubble. The building includes a base course and a cornice. The central entrance consists of a two-leaf, four-panel timber door set within a simple corniced doorway, with the year 1787 inscribed in the pediment above. To the left, there is a pentice, and at the rear, there is a later flat-roofed two-storey extension.
The front elevation predominantly features replacement plate glass timber tilt-and-turn windows. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are raised skews and coped gablehead stacks with polygonal cans.
Inside, as observed in 2008, the original room layout remains largely intact. The interior includes some decorative cornicing, a curved staircase with shallow treads, iron balusters, and a timber banister.
