7 David Dale Avenue, Former East Gate to Lainshaw House

The building at 2 David Dale Avenue, known as the former East Gate to Lainshaw House, likely dates from the late 18th or early 19th century. It consists of a pair of originally single-storey Gothic lodges that have been modified to two storeys with later extensions and square-headed openings. The lodges are arranged in a three-bay L-plan and feature crenellated Gothic design, flanking the road leading to Lainshaw House. The exterior is constructed of tooled rubble, which was formerly harled, and has raised ashlar margins, a base course, an eaves course, and a broad dentilled cornice. The windows on the eastern side have moulded architraves, and there are timber entrance doors with 2-light fanlights above.

No 2 includes a section of a former wall on the northern elevation and a later single-storey extension at the rear. The predominant windows in No 2 are 12-pane timber sash and case, while No 7 has non-traditional replacement windows. Both buildings have flat roofs.

Inside No 2, as observed in 2008, the room layout has been altered. It features an impressive decorative stone chimneypiece with a Tudor arch and some six-panel timber doors.
