Description
Windyridge is a single storey and attic, L-plan, gabled Arts and Crafts house built in 1924. It features deep eaves, a red-tiled roof, a gabled entrance, box bay windows, flat-roofed dormers, and a piend-roofed service wing at the rear. The exterior is rendered, with some areas of exposed red brick, and has projecting cills on the ground-floor windows.
On the west elevation, there is a deep-set timber panelled front door located in a recessed arched porch that has decorative brick detailing. Access to the door is via three red-tiled steps, and above the door is a 2-light window in the gable. To the right, an advanced box bay has a 4-light window with a swept roof, and there is a 3-light dormer above it. The outer bays feature 2-light windows.
The south elevation showcases a gable with a projecting rectangular bay window at ground level and a small oriel window above it.
On the east elevation, there is a piend-roofed bay advanced to the right, which has irregular fenestration. To the left, there is a garage, a timber-boarded back door to the right, and a dormer in the attic. The left return is also irregularly fenestrated, and there is a stair tower at the re-entrant angle. The main block has two bays, featuring a glazed door to the left, a 3-light window to the right, and two bipartite dormers in the attic.
The north elevation has an asymmetrical gable to the right and a service wing to the left, with irregular fenestration throughout. The windows predominantly have 4- and 6-pane glazing in timber casements. The house has coped, rendered ridge stacks with red clay cans, a red tiled roof, and cast-iron rainwater goods.
Inside, there is a half-glazed timber-panelled inner door leading to a large entrance hall that includes a window seat in the bay window. The dining room features a large bow-fronted timber mantelpiece with a bell on the right jamb, a small off-centre fireplace with a roll-moulded stone fender, a picture rail, and a vine-motif plaster frieze. The drawing room also has a large bow-fronted mantelpiece with cupboards to the side, a small off-centre fireplace, square red tile insets, a picture rail, and a vine-motif plaster frieze on the ceiling.
