Description
2 Union Terrace in Dundee is a two-storey, three-bay neo-classical villa built before 1837. The villa is constructed of ashlar stone at the front, with a coursed rubble rear.
The south elevation features a porch with Ionic columns and paired pilasters, along with a balustraded balcony above. The flanking bays are recessed and have architraved windows, which are lugged at the ground floor and aproned at the first floor. There is a band course, a main cornice, and a blocking course along the top. The west elevation has similar detailing, with three bays on the right that are advanced and topped with a pedimented wallhead stack. A square pilastered bay projects from a set-back wing on the left, featuring a tripartite window above and an ornate cast-iron balcony.
At the rear, there is a wallhead stack on the right, along with a one-storey and attic service wing and coach-house that have gabled windows breaking the eaves. The roofs are piended and platformed with slate. The windows are sash and case, with a 12-pane glazing pattern and two panes on the ground floor.
The property is enclosed by coursed rubble boundary walls, which have square gatepiers with corniced caps that are dislodged.
