Description

Possibly Urquhart Lindsay and Co, circa 1866-7 3-storey and

attic 7-bay rubble-built jute mill. E elevation 7-bay with

N-most windows blocked on each floor and hoist inserted,

S-most windows altered for escape. Others wooden-framed

top-hoppers. Band course over 2nd floor W elevation similar

but without alterations and smaller windows at ground floor.

S elevation 3-bay remodelled gable with windows at attic

floor. N elevation brick, to allow for unfinished extension.

2-storey gabled brick office and sample room with oriel

to W and small stack, late 19th century, on an 1820s rubble

base.

Interior: mill iron framed and brick arched, with concrete

transverse arches in 2nd floor ceiling, probably replacing

a wooden floor in circa 1920-30. A combined cast and

wrought-iron tie roof.
