Description

Urquhart Lindsay and Co, 1874. 5-storey 8-by 13-bay

L-plan jute spinning mill, rubble-built with ashlar quoins

to E. Metal-framed windows, some blocked or altered to

doors at ground floor. 2 keystoned arched entrances at

N wing. W walls blank.

Piended slate roof and water tank.

Interior iron framed, Iron columns with bell capitals and

brackets for shafting (which was also suspended from

beams), brick arches under stone slabs and iron plates.

2nd bay from E has iron fittings in floors and ceilings for

rope drives/shafts. Stone stair, lift and WC in angle.

Top floor brick arched ceiling with wooden roof above.
