125, 125A Nethergate, Dundee

The building is an early 19th century Post Office located at 123 Nethergate in Dundee. It is a three-storey and attic structure with a basement at the rear, forming an 11-bay tenemental terrace that includes shops on the ground floor. The front is constructed of squared sandstone rubble with ashlar margins, although some areas have been refaced in mortar. The rear is made of random rubble, topped with a grey slate roof. There is a cill band at the first and second floors, and a lintel band or eaves course at the second floor. The windows have margins, with the original 12-pane timber sash and case glazing pattern on the first floor of buildings 127-131, 4-pane windows on the second floor, and 2-pane windows on 123-125. The three right-hand bays on the second floor feature modern pivot frames that are not in keeping with the original style, and there are later canted dormers. The building has tall shouldered wallhead stacks, with the upper parts made of harled brick, a brick ridge stack, and an ashlar-coped dividing skew at the center, along with an ashlar stack to the left.

On the front elevation, there is a close door in the center bay and shopfronts of various periods, with number 129 likely being the original. There are 11 windows on the first and second floors, with the window at the third bay from the left being blind. The elevation also features four dormers and various rooflights.

The rear elevation includes two three-storey and attic gabled wings that are recessed at the re-entrant angles, except at the attic, and contain spiral stairs with ashlar newels. The eastern yard has been filled with later brick garaging.
