Description

The Mennock Viaduct, part of the Closeburn-New Cumnock railway line, was engineered by John Miller and opened on October 28, 1850. This railway viaduct features three round arches that support a double track over a deep gully, with the outer vehicle arches designed in a triumphal arch form. It is constructed from grey stugged ashlar, with channelled voussoirs positioned above bull-faced piers. A decorative band and a deep string course run below the coped parapets.
