Description

Rutherford's Monument is a granite obelisk erected in 1842, standing 56 feet high on a hill that overlooks Fleet Bay. It commemorates Samuel Rutherford, who was an author and minister in Anwoth from 1627 to 1639. The monument features a bull-faced granite stepped base and plinth, which has an inscribed panel on the south side, supporting the tall polished granite obelisk above.
