Description
The Plump Bridge, located at Springfield and situated within Kirkandrews Parish, is likely to date from around 1818. It is a road bridge, featuring a single segmental arch spanning the River Sark. The bridge is constructed entirely of red ashlar, with recessed arch rings and wide outer pilaster strips connected by straight parapets. Ramped retaining walls support the roadway approaches. The bridge is now bypassed. Records, potentially referencing the Sark bridge at Springfield, can be found in SRO GD1/523/1.
