Description
Hensol Lodge, built around 1822, is a picturesque single-storey and attic gothic lodge with an asymmetrical T-plan. It features rubble walling with granite margins and detailing, and it serves as a gateway with a granite wall that extends from the parapet of Hensol Bridge to form the entrance to Hensol House.
The south elevation has an advanced gabled bay on the right, which includes a pointed arch doorway with a hoodmould and a neo-gothic timber door. To the right of the doorway are tripartite mullioned windows, while the gable features a mullioned bipartite window with multi-pane glazing. On the left side, there is a modern plate glass window.
The west gable includes a 4-pane sash and case window on the left, with a buttressed stack that rises to two tall stacks linked at the top. The rear elevation has a 20th-century lean-to rubble extension and is topped with slate roofs. The gables are adorned with coping and skewputts, and finials are present at the apex. The lodge also features tall corniced stacks.
