Description

Rusko House is a mid-18th century residence that has undergone several additions in the 19th and 20th centuries. The original structure is a two-storey building with three bays and a piend roof, featuring a bowed central bay facing the garden. On either side, there are asymmetrical two-storey wings from the 19th century, along with an addition from the 1930s to the east. The exterior walls are finished in roughcast from the 20th century, with polished granite margins exposed. Above the doorway, there is an inserted stone panel displaying a small shield with arms: quarterly three boar heads and three crescents, likely representing the Carson family of Rusko Tower.

On the north elevation, the house has seven bays, with a projecting piend roofed bay from the 1930s on the left. The central three-bay section is from the 18th century and features an advanced castellated two-storey porch from the 1930s at its center. To the right, there is a gabled dormer on the first floor and an advanced piended bay at the extreme right.

The south elevation is also asymmetrical with seven bays, featuring advanced piend roofed end bays. The left end bay is more prominently advanced and includes a bay window on the ground floor and a dormer on the first floor. The central three-bay section, which is from the 18th century, has a projecting three-window canted bay at the center and a French door to the left on the ground floor. The wide piended bay on the extreme right has two windows on the ground floor and two gabled dormers with ball finials on the first floor.

All roofs are covered with graded slate and have tall coped axial stacks. The property includes a terraced garden with central steps leading to a Haha.
