Dalmalin Lodge

Dalmalin Lodge is a picturesque, L-plan house dating to the mid-19th century. The building was originally a single-storey cottage, which was raised in the 19th century with a brick extension to the rear. It is built of rubble stone with granite rusticated quoins. The ground floor windows have architraves and hood moulds, with raised painted margins defining the first-floor windows. A hoodmoulded doorway features a panelled door and a honeycomb-glazed fanlight. To the right of the doorway is a bipartite, hoodmoulded window, while to the left is an advanced gabled bay with a bipartite window. All ground-floor windows are casements with a small-pane hexagonal glazing pattern. The attic storey has a bargeboarded dormer on the left side and a window in the gable head, both with modern glazing. The steeply pitched slate roofs have overhanging eaves and end stacks constructed from bull-faced granite with tall, individual octagonal cans. To the rear, the brick raised portion is located on the left side, and the building has undergone numerous alterations.
