Description
Rowanglen, now known as Mansepark House, is a former manse built in 1804. It is a symmetrical, five-bay building of two storeys and an attic, with single-storey recessed wings extending to the left and right. The wing to the left has been significantly modernised.
The house is constructed of painted rough granite with raised, polished sandstone margins and quoins. The central entrance has a plain rectangular fanlight. The windows are single sash windows with four panes of glass. The roof is slate, with two piended dormers, flat red sandstone skews, and corniced wallhead stacks topped with thackstanes.
The rear elevation features a central stair window, along with some modern glazing and French doors to the left. A tall coped wall defines the garden boundary, and there is a well with an iron grille.
Rowanglen forms a group of buildings with Kirkgunzeon Parish Church and the McWhire Monument. Plans are held within the Scottish Record Office, reference RHP 7845/6, and note internal alterations.
