Description
Craigenveoch features a pair of estate cottages built in the late 19th to early 20th century. These cottages are single storey with eight bays, including single storey and attic terminal bays. They are constructed from squared and snecked whinstone rubble, with bull-faced granite used for the quoins, lintels, cills, and rybats. The cottages have deep overhanging eaves on the south, west, and east sides.
On the principal elevation to the south, the gabled outer bays are set forward, featuring a 3-light window at the ground floor and a 2-light window in the gablehead. There are boarded doors in the penultimate bays on both the left and right, with the right door having leaded glazing in the upper panel. Cat-slide open porches are located in the re-entrant angles, created by the continuation of the roof pitch of the outer bays and supported on timber piers. A 2-light window is present in the remaining central bays.
The east elevation has a cat-slide porch that is advanced to the right of center, formed by the continuation of the roof pitch. There is a door to the south return and a window to the east, with a 2-light window to the left. A modern low rubble garden wall is attached to the left and to the left of the porch.
On the west elevation, a cat-slide porch is advanced to the left of center, again formed by the continuation of the roof pitch. There is a door to the south return and a window to the west, with a 2-light window to the right.
The north elevation consists of eight bays with gabled outer bays, featuring three windows at the ground floor and two windows in the gablehead. There is a door in the third bay from the right, with regular fenestration in the remaining bays. Most windows are 2-light, with each light having a 9-pane upper panel and a 4-pane lower panel; the north elevation includes 6-pane sash and case windows.
The cottages have three evenly spaced banded ridge stacks and are roofed with purple-grey slates.
