42-44 Laurieknowe, Dumfries

46 Laurieknowe in Dumfries is a pair of mid-19th century terraced houses, each two stories high and featuring two bays. The houses have cast-iron railings around their basements and are constructed from droved red ashlar with polished margins and rusticated quoins. Both houses have their main doorways on the left side, with recessed doors. Number 46, on the left, retains a decorative fanlight and has plate glass sash windows.

The house to the right, Number 42, has been modernized and includes a shop on the ground floor, complete with a canopy under a timber fascia. It features small, modern balconies on the first floor and a single piended, canted dormer. Architectural details include an eaves and lintel band, a cornice, a blocking course, straight skews, end stacks, and slate roofs. The flanks and rear of the houses are built of brick, and there is a brick rear garden wall with blind arcading.
