Description
Williamwath Bridge is a road bridge built in two phases: the piers and abutments were constructed by D and T Stevenson in 1850, while the iron plate girder superstructure was added by J and A Leslie in 1882, with J Cameron Arrol as the contractor, as noted on inscribed plaques. The bridge features three flat spans that carry the Lochmaben-Dalton road over the River Annan. The piers and abutments are made of bull-faced red ashlar and are battered down to the level of a band course. There are pointed cutwaters on the northwest side, and the parapets over the abutments are also made of red ashlar. The superstructure consists of riveted plate girders.
