Description
The Stable Block at Robgill Tower, built in the later 19th century, is a single-storey structure arranged in a U-shape around a courtyard, featuring a two-storey central tower. The building is constructed from stugged and snecked red ashlar with polished dressings and bull-faced quoins. The tower includes a round-headed pend that is roll-moulded towards the courtyard, along with angle buttresses and stepped string moulding beneath the upper window. There is a dummy gun loop, and the parapet is corbelled and crenellated, raised above one angle to give the appearance of a cap house. A single dormer is located next to the tower. The stable block has square-headed openings, cart-garage openings with ornamental hinges, and small-paned windows. The northern wing gable contains former kennels, while the west wall has modern sliding doors, and there is a glass-house on the south wall of the south wing. The roof is covered with graded slates. The courtyard is enclosed on the east side by quadrant walls that feature ball-finialled square gatepiers.
