Description
Gateslack Farmhouse is a two-storey, three-bay farmhouse designed by architect Walter Newall of Dumfries, built around 1830. The west elevation features pink ashlar, while the other elevations are made of contrasting red and pink sandstone or are whitewashed. The farmhouse has a gabled central porch with the door located in the side elevation, and it includes sash windows with 12-pane glazing. The roof has saw-toothed skews and corniced end stacks. The rear wing is also two storeys and consists of two bays, which appears to have been raised in height, featuring two gabled dormer heads facing south and a lean-to in the re-entrant angle. The entire structure is roofed with graded slates.
