Description
Carronbridge Viaduct is a railway viaduct on the Closeburn-New Cummock line, designed by engineer John Miller and opened on October 28, 1850. It features six round arches that span Carron Glen, supporting a double track over Carron Water and the A702 road. The structure is made of channelled, bullfaced red ashlar with rusticated voussoirs. It has a band at the imposts and below the parapets, which have been rebuilt in brick and feature an iron handrail. The viaduct also includes outer pilaster strips.
