Description

Morton Mains is a late 19th century haybarn that features a double-pile design. Originally, it consisted of two separate identical rectangular-plan barns with parallel gabled roofs, which now have a roof covering the space between them. The structure is supported by buttressed masonry piers that are rubble-built with red ashlar dressings at each corner, linked by timber lintels. These lintels are complemented by timber angle braces on the long walls. The gables are boarded and include ventilation hatches, while the roofs are covered with slate.
