District Council Headquarters, Greenfield House, Mar Place, Alloa

Greenfield House, the District Council Headquarters in Alloa, was designed by A G Sydney Mitchell and Wilson and built between 1892 and 1894, with alterations made by the same architect in 1914. The building is constructed of red snecked rubble and features two storeys and an attic, along with a prominent four-storey entrance tower. This tower has an intricately detailed arched entrance and is flanked by Ionic columns, topped with a set-back ogee roofed timber and lead fifth stage. The symmetrical southeast front includes twin bays and a single-storey northeast service wing, while the roof is adorned with interlocked octagonal shafted chimneys. The exterior is finely detailed with sculptured and inscribed panels. Although the interior has been altered for office use, some notable interior features remain.
