21-23 Broughton Place, Edinburgh

25 Broughton Place in Edinburgh is a classical tenement building dating from 1809. It stands three storeys high with a basement and attic, featuring a seven-bay terraced design. The exterior is made of sandstone ashlar, with rustication at the ground level. Notable architectural details include a base course, a band course between the ground and first floors, and a cill band at the first floor. There is also a cill band for two smaller windows in the bays to the left of centre on the second floor, which breaks the symmetry of the remaining bays on either side. The building has corniced eaves and a blocking course, with ashlar steps and entrance platts that overhang the basement.

On the north elevation facing Broughton Street, there are three timber panelled doors with fanlights (the centre fanlight is blocked) in the central bays, with windows in the remaining bays. The upper floors feature regular fenestration, four piended tripartite dormers, and a rooflight. The windows are timber sash and case with 12-pane glazing. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there is a ridge stack along with decorative cast-iron railings.

The interior was not seen in 1998.
