10 Great Michael Rise in Edinburgh is a tenement block designed by Basil Spence in 1957. The building consists of three blocks that are two and three stories high, with a total of three and four bays, stepping down towards the harbour. The blocks numbered 4 to 10 have four bays, while number 12 has three bays. The exterior is mainly finished in painted harl, with a base course and forestairs made of granite setts salvaged from the road. The outer right bays feature timber boarding in the recessed areas.

The entrance elevation for numbers 4 to 10 includes a single door at ground level beneath the stair in the outer left bay, with two single windows in the bays to the right and a recessed single window in the outer right bay. An exterior stair leads to the first-floor entry in the outer left bay. The first-floor windows mirror those on the ground floor. For number 12, there is a single door at ground level in the central bay, with single windows in both first-floor bays and bipartite windows in both second-floor bays. The recessed bay on the outer right also features bipartite windows on the first and second floors.

The building has a mix of replacement uPVC, metal, and original timber picture and casement windows. The roofs are covered with grey slate, and there are rendered stacks at the center topped with precast concrete coping and circular cans.
