13 Marlborough Street, Portobello, Edinburgh

13 Marlborough Street in Portobello, Edinburgh, is an early 19th-century pair of classical houses that has undergone later alterations. The building is two stories high and consists of five bays in total. It features squared sandstone with droved ashlar dressings, while No 11 is painted. The side elevations and rear are made of rubble, with brick and harled extensions. There is a base course and a cill course at the first floor.

On the southeast (principal) elevation, there are two doorways grouped at the center. No 11 has a modern door, while No 13 features a panelled door. Above the doors, there are plate glass rectangular fanlights and a window at the first floor. Each of the flanking bays has windows on both floors.

The northwest (rear) elevation includes single and two-storey extensions, as well as a modern external staircase leading to the first floor of No 9, located at the back of No 11.

The sash and case windows include plate glass for No 11 and six-pane over plate glass for No 13. The roof is covered with grey slate and features coped gablehead stacks.

The interior was not seen in 1994. The boundary walls are bull-faced cement rendered with cement coping, and the side walls are made of rubble.
