Description
Woodend is an early 19th-century cottage in Dreghorn, Edinburgh, with mid-19th-century and later 20th-century additions. It is a single-storey, 2-bay cottage featuring a piend roof and a 2-window bow on the west elevation. There is a later, advanced 1-bay outshot to the north and a tall pedimented porch at the re-entrant angle, which includes a key-blocked, round-arched doorway with an aedicule. To the east, there is a flat-roofed modern scullery outshot. The bow, porch, quoins, and window dressings are made of ashlar, while the north side is constructed from dressed, stugged sandstone, and the east and south sides are built with random rubble. The cottage features a basecourse, eaves course, and a blocking course on the west elevation, along with raised long and short quoins. The porch has a modern timber boarded door and a small, round-arched blind aedicule on the right return. The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass. A large central corniced stack with short red clay cans is present, and the roof is covered with graded grey slates.
