Description

Robert Reid and William Sibbald, 1802. 4-storey and basement, 9-bay terraced tenement. Broached ashlar sandstone; V-jointed rustication at principal floor. Band course at principal floor; band course and cill course at 1st floor; cill course and cornice at 2nd floor; cornice and blocking course at 3rd floor. Ashlar steps and entrance platts oversailing basement.

W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: part-glazed common-stair door with blind rectangular fanlight, in 4th bay from left at principal floor; round-arched doorpieces in bays 3rd from left and 3rd from right, comprising 4-panel timber door to left, 6-panel timber door to right, with radial, semicircular fanlights. Windows in remaining bays at principal floor, regular fenestration to floors above. Flagged basement area.

N ELEVATION: adjoining terrace, see separate listing (31-37, odd Nos, Howe Street).

Predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate M-roof. Cast-iron rainwater goods. Broached ashlar ridge and gablehead stacks; coped with circular cans.

INTERIORS: not seen, 1997.

RAILINGS: ashlar copes surmounted by iron railings with spear-headed balusters and urn finials.
