Description

Robert Morrison, 1807. 4-storey and basement, 5-bay terraced tenement. Broached ashlar sandstone. Cill course at 1st and 2nd floors; band course between 2nd and 3rd floors; cornice and blocking course at 2nd floor. Entrance platts and steps, oversailing basement at left.

E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 8-bay pilastered shop front at principal floor, comprising 2-bay shop front at centre, glazed door with rectangular fanlight to right, multi-pane window to left; 3-bay shop front to outer, glazed door, rectangular fanlight, flanked by multi-pane windows; 9-panel common stair door in 3rd bay from outer left, shallow rectangular fanlight; 2-bay shop front to outer left, 5-panel door to right, plate glass fanlight, plate glass window to left. Flagged basement area to left.

N ELEVATION: adjoining terrace, see separate listing (1-25 Royal Circus).

S ELEVATION: adjoining terrace, see separate listing (Nos 28 and 30 Howe Street).

Predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate M-roof. Cast-iron rainwater goods. Brick ridge stacks, coped with circular cans.

INTERIORS: not seen, 1997.

RAILINGS: copes surmounted by cast-iron railings with fleur-de-lis balusters and pineapple finials.
