Description
Robert Reid and William Sibbald, 1812. 4-storey and basement, 7-bay terraced tenement. Broached ashlar sandstone; V-jointed rustication at basement. Band course at principal and 1st floors; projecting cills to windows at 1st and 2nd floors; continual cornice at 2nd floor; cornice and blocking course at 3rd floor. Ashlar steps and entrance platts oversailing basement.
W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 6-panel timber common stair door, with blind rectangular fanlight, centred at principal floor, flanked by pair of 6-panel timber doors with radial rectangular fanlights. Windows in remaining bays at principal floor; regular fenestration to floors above and to basement. Flagged basement area.
S ELEVATION: random rubble; windows centred at all floors, and to right of centre at principal, 1st and 2nd floors.
E (REAR) ELEVATION: random rubble; regular fenestration to bays at all floors.
Predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case windows. Anthemion and palmette window guards to 3 bays at right at 2nd floor. Grey slate M-roof. Cast-iron rainwater goods. Rendered ridge stack, rendered gablehead stack, random rubble gablehead stack with broached ashlar quoins; coped, with circular cans.
INTERIORS: not seen, 1997.
RAILINGS AND LAMP: ashlar copes surmounted by iron railings with spear-headed balusters and urn finials.
