Including Railings, 1-3 (Odd Nos) Roxburgh Street

This building, located at 5 Roxburgh Street, dates back to around 1800 and consists of a two-storey structure with a basement and attic. It features a 12 x 4-bay row of former townhouses and flats, which are currently used as offices as of 2007. The entrances have platts that overhang the basements. The upper storey is finished in stugged ashlar, while the ground floor has droved ashlar with polished ashlar band courses. There is a cill course, a mutuled cornice, and raised cills on the ground floor. The entrances are framed by Doric pilastered and corniced doorpieces, with mostly multi-panelled timber doors that have fanlights above. One entrance is located on Drummond Street. The building also features later canted and piended dormers.

The windows are predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case on Nos 5 and 7, while Nos 1 and 3 have 4-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are raised skews along with ridge and gable stacks.

Inside, as seen in 2007, the building has been converted into interconnected offices. Some areas retain decorative plasterwork cornicing and fine plaster detailing, along with staircases that feature metal balusters and timber handrails.

On the western side facing Roxburgh Street, there is a low stone wall topped with spear-headed cast-iron railings that include integral gates.
