6 Pittville Street, Edinburgh

4 Pittville Street in Joppa, Edinburgh, is an early 19th-century building with later additions and alterations. It consists of two-storey, two-bay terraced cottages arranged in pairs, featuring classical detailing. The structure is made of squared sandstone with painted, droved dressings, and includes a base course (not visible at No 8), a cornice, and a blocking course at No 4.

The northwest elevation, which is the principal side, has pilastered and corniced doorpieces in the center bays of each pair, with semicircular radial fanlights above the doors (except at No 6, which has plate glass). There is a window on the first floor above each door, and windows on both floors of the flanking bays.

The southeast elevation is not fully visible as of 1994; however, maps indicate extensions to one of the outer bays of each house and to both outer bays of No 6, which appear to be single storey based on a limited view.

The cottages feature original 12-pane and plate glass timber sash and case windows. The roofs were originally covered with slate but have been replaced with modern pantiles at No 10. The properties have apex stacks and ashlar skews, except between Nos 8 and 10.

The interior was not seen in 1994, and the boundary walls are made of rubble with coping.
