31 Pittville Street, Joppa, Edinburgh

33 Pittville Street in Joppa, Edinburgh, is a pair of mirrored, two-storey, two-bay terraced houses built in the earlier 19th century, after 1824. The ground floor features deeply-channelled ashlar, while the first floor is finished with droved ashlar and polished ashlar dressings. The rear is constructed from squared and snecked rubble. Architectural details include a base course, a broad band course, and panelled aprons beneath the cill course of each first-floor window, along with a cornice that is overstepped by the cornice of the adjacent No 29, and a blocking course.

On the southeast (principal) elevation, there are panelled doors in the central bays, with plate glass rectangular fanlights and windows above each on the first floor. The flanking bays also contain windows on both floors.

The northwest (rear) elevation features a two-storey extension in the center, which was not fully visible in 1994.

The windows of No 31 are plate glass timber sash and case, while No 33 has 12-pane timber sash and case windows. The roofs are covered with grey slate; No 31 has an M-roof with coped skews and end stacks, and the extension has a piended slate roof with an apex stack.

The boundary walls are made of droved ashlar with coping and were formerly topped with cast-iron railings.
