Description
14 Pittville Street in Edinburgh is an early 19th century building that has seen later additions and alterations. It consists of a pair of mirrored terraced cottages, each two stories high and three bays wide. The cottage at No 12 features harled ashlar dressings, while No 14 is built with painted rubble. Both have a base course and a cill course at the first floor.
The principal elevation on the northwest side has doorways with consoled and corniced doorpieces at the center, along with plate glass rectangular fanlights. Above each door, there are windows on the first floor, and there are additional windows on both floors of the flanking bays.
The southeast rear elevation is not fully visible as of 1994, but it includes a single-storey extension on the left side at No 12 and a two-storey and single-storey extension on the right side at No 14.
Both cottages have plate glass timber sash and case windows. The original grey slate roof of No 14 has been replaced with modern pantiles, and both cottages feature apex stacks.
The boundary walls are made of squared render with coping.
