62 Hanover Street, Edinburgh

64 Hanover Street in Edinburgh is a classical corner block built around 1775, with later additions. It is a four-storey building with a basement and features five bays. The exterior is made of droved cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings, long and short quoins at the corner, a cill course at the third floor, a dentilled cornice, and a balustraded concrete parapet.

On the George Street elevation, the four left bays have two shops at ground level that extend out and incorporate the basement, featuring timber facing. The symmetrical three-bay shop on the right is slightly built out and has a consoled cornice, with a basement shop below.

The Hanover Street elevation has four bays, with steps leading to a corniced common stair door located in the centre right bay, flanked by early 19th-century pilastraded shopfronts. The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof has rendered stacks and is covered with grey slates.

Inside, the ground floor has been significantly altered and is linked with offices to the south on the upper floors. The property also features simple cast-iron railings.
