Description
97-99 Lothian Road is a four-storey, eight-bay plain classical terraced tenement designed by David MacGibbon in 1864. It is slightly taller than its neighboring buildings and features later shops on the ground floor. The exterior is constructed of coursed ashlar, with the three outer left bays on the first floor painted black. There is a continuous cornice above the shops, a cill course at the third floor level, and a moulded eaves cornice. The building has modern shop fronts and is regularly fenestrated, with corniced architraves framing the first-floor windows. The windows are made of plate glass set in timber sash and case frames. The building also has corniced rendered ridge stacks with circular cans.
