Description

Earlier 19th century with later alterations. 2-storey with basement, symmetrical 3-bay square-plan with stairtower to rear; terminates terrace (Nos 254-284). Droved ashlar with rubble sandstone at basement, squared and snecked side (SE) elevation, harled turnpike to rear. Band course between basement and ground; cill course to 1st floor.

SW (PORTOBELLO HIGH STREET) ELEVATION: 3 steps with original plain cast-iron handrails to modern flush door with plate glass square fanlight above, to centre. Windows to each floor (including basement) and each bay.

NE (REAR) ELEVATION: not seen, 1994.

Plate glass timber sash and case windows to 1st floor, modern windows with top hopper to ground. Grey slate roof with rendered and coped wallhead stack to NW; ashlar, coped wallhead to SE. Some original railings in situ to basement area.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1994.
