Dunalastair House Lodge, 57 Dreghorn Loan, Edinburgh

Dunalastair House Lodge, built in 1907 by John F Matthew with later alterations to the rear, is an asymmetrical lodge situated on a sloping site. It is a single-storey building with a basement on the northwest side. The lodge features a conical-roofed circular corner tower on the west side, and it is finished in painted render. The broad eaves and bell-cast piended roof add to its distinctive appearance.

The entrance includes a half-glazed timber panelled door leading into the tower, along with a later flat-roofed porch that has a glazed timber boarded door on the north side. On the southeast side, there is a small window with a Gothic arch lintel. The lodge predominantly features 9-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows, while the corner tower has bowed glass windows. A central corniced stack with circular cans is present, and the roof is covered with red tiles and terracotta ridge tiles.
