Description
161 Lanark Road West in Currie is a pair of single-storey and attic cottages built around 1815. Each cottage features two windows and a central Roman Doric doorpiece with pilasters, which is deeply recessed. The original doors have a four-pane transom light at No. 161, which connects one window and one door to an office. The cottages are constructed with coursed stone that has rusticated quoin ends and raised margins. They have straight-skewed gables topped with ashlar stacks. At No. 161, there are two later timber gabled dormers, while No. 165 has a single-light dormer. Both cottages have Victorian four-pane sash windows.
