Description

41 Corstorphine Road is a house built around 1840. It is a two-storey building, three-storey at the rear, featuring a symmetrical rectangular plan with six bays. The exterior is made of squared and snecked sandstone rubble, accented with stugged quoins and long and short surrounds. It has an eaves course and cornice, architraved doorpieces, and block cills for the first-floor windows.

On the northeast elevation, there are doorpieces in the outer bays at ground level, with a window in each of the intervening bays. The upper floor has single windows in all bays, and there are centred windows at mezzanine level on the west elevation. The rear of No 43 features a bracketed two-storey rectangular-plan projecting bay.

The front elevation includes 12-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, with coped shouldered wallhead stacks topped with cylindrical cans, and cast-iron rainwater goods.

The property is bordered by a low coped squared and snecked sandstone wall along the street.
