Description
25 St Andrew Square in Edinburgh is a former house designed by William Chambers between 1770 and 1772, with the facade retained in 1964. The building has three storeys, a basement, and an attic, featuring a five-bay classical design. The exterior is rendered to resemble ashlar stone, with ashlar dressings. It includes moulded architraves and is flanked by channelled pilaster strips. An Ionic porch is located at the outer right bay, supporting a company eagle. There are also a pair of modern canted timber flat-roofed dormers.
The windows are timber sash and case with multiple panes. The roof features lead-coped mutual skews, dressed stone mutual stacks, and grey slates.
The rear elevation is microtiled and also three storeys high. The interior has been modernized for office use and was rebuilt in 1964. The property is enclosed by plain modern iron railings.
