116 Newhaven Road, Newhaven, Edinburgh

118 Newhaven Road in Newhaven, Edinburgh, is a mid-19th century mirrored pair of two-storey and attic, two-bay terraced houses designed in a semi-detached style. The houses are constructed from cream stugged sandstone ashlar, with rustication at the ground level (the adjacent No 116 is painted). They feature a base course, a band course above the rustication, a cill course at the first floor, a cornice, and a blocking course, with stop-chamfered arrises.

The central bays have cavetto-moulded round-headed doorcases that contain panelled doors and semicircular fanlights. The outer bays are distinguished by full-height canted bays topped with shallow piended roofs behind the blocking course, and piend-roofed canted dormers above, along with Velux rooflights at the center.

The rear elevations are constructed of two-bay rubble. The windows are timber sash and case with four panes, although No 118 has plate glass in the upper bay. The roofs are covered with grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks. A shared ashlar coped mutual skew is situated at the far right. The decorative cast-iron rainwater heads are finely crafted.

In front, there is a low rubble wall with saddleback ashlar coping, which has been demolished to No 116.
