Description
St Catherine's House, located on Howdenhall Road in Edinburgh, was originally built by John Simpson in 1806, with further alterations and additions made around 1835 by G S Aitken. The house is two stories high and features four windows, constructed from coursed rubble with quoins and margins. It has a central wallhead chimney and a piended roof. Notable architectural features include pilastered bay windows and a trellis porch, likely added around 1835. There is a single-storey addition to the west that includes a Doric portico, as well as a two-storey, three-window addition on the east side, which has a balustraded parapet. The building also has a basement at the back.
