Description
The building is an 18th century smithy located at 79 Howden Hall Road in Edinburgh. It is a traditional, symmetrical, single-storey cottage with three bays, featuring deep-set openings and a steeply pitched roof covered with thackstanes. The exterior is constructed of random rubble with a red sandstone basecourse.
The southwest (front) elevation has a central replacement door. The windows are timber sash and case with 8-pane lying pane glazing. The building also has ashlar coped skews and coped ridge stacks topped with thackstanes, and the roof is finished with graded grey slate.
