13 Hill Street, Edinburgh

11 Hill Street in Edinburgh is a pair of mirrored, three-storey and attic, three-bay classical former houses built between 1788 and 1794 by James Hill. The exterior features droved cream ashlar sandstone with polished dressings that have been cleaned. The ground floor has smaller windows with a cill course, and there is an eaves course above. The inner bays have broad tripartite doorpieces with fluted friezes and mutules, leading to flush-panelled doors. No 13 has a tripartite dormer, while No 11 has a single dormer.

The rear elevations are irregularly coursed rubble, featuring tripartite windows on the first floor, with a projecting bay at No 11 that has been extended in brick. The houses have timber sash and case windows with 12 panes. The skews are coped with ashlar, and there are rendered stacks topped with grey slates. The interior was not seen in 1995.
