79-83 Morrison Street, Edinburgh

79-83 Morrison Street is a later 19th-century, four-storey, seven-bay tenement built in a plain classical style, featuring ground-floor shops. The ground floor is finished in painted polished sandstone ashlar, while the upper floors are clad in droved sandstone ashlar with polished dressings. The building has a base course, a cill course at the third floor, a cornice, and architraved windows.

The northern elevation features a shouldered pend on the outer left and tripartite windows on the upper floors. The central bay on the right includes a plate glass shop window flanked by timber panelled doors and plate glass fanlights, with regular single window fenestration on all floors above. There is a panelled glass and timber door in the central bay of the shop on the outer right, accompanied by plate glass fanlights and flanking plate glass shop windows, with consistent single window fenestration on all floors above.

The windows are 4-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered in grey slate with an M-gable to the east. There are corniced gablehead and ridge stacks, coped rendered mutual stacks shared with No 85 Morrison Street, and moulded cans. The building also features cast-iron rainwater goods.
